Bushcraft Workshops & Outdoor Experiences
Bushcraft Workshops & Outdoor Experiences
I find comfort in the idea that today is a new day.
A new day in nature is always a new opportunity.
In the wild, opportunities are equal to all.
For nature will always carry on as if nothing will affect it, and nothing has happened.
Nature has no burden of time and worries not of tomorrow.
I am Nature, and Nature is Me.

Growing up on a small mixed farm in southern Saskatchewan was a truly unique experience. It is what ultimately what nurtured my thrill of adventure and love for nature. There was no stone left unturned on the family farm. We would hike or bike out to that back fields in exploration of what we might find form lost treasure to wild critters. An afternoon snack might luckily include some Saskatoon berries or wild strawberries.
Over the years summers were filled with all sorts of camping. We would load up and head to the mountains or I could be found at camp from lake Deifenbaker to the Churchill.
My adventures finally lead to find my wife Christy. Together with our 4 children we have continued on our outdoor adventures across this beautiful province and beyond. Camping and canoeing trips become key activities in our family. We have also spent the last eight years sharing our experience and knowledge by volunteering for our local scout group, providing outdoors learning and skills needed to enjoy the great outdoors. We have taught many youth and adults alike what helps becoming comfortable in all kinds of weather and wild areas Mother Nature provides.
Join us in exploring your own passion for nature. What adventure awaits around the next bend is up to you!
Mitch grew up in McLean, Saskatchewan, where the 1st McLean Scouts program was well known. He followed through from Beavers to Scouts, and made many memories in the Outdoor School program offered at Greenall High School. The course resonated with him so much so that he spent many years convincing his now wife, Piper, that they had to go back to Grey Owl's Cabin one day. The ODS program hiked in all of their gear for this trip, and although it was a tiresome endeavour, the memories will last a lifetime.
Piper grew up on an acreage in Edenwold, Saskatchewan, and although she did grow up familiar with the camping experience, she spent the majority of her time at the rink playing ringette. A love for experiencing what nature had to offer didn't foster until after high school. Piper spent time backpacking in Scotland, and since then has spent many nights in a tent camping across Canada and the United States with her friends and her husband.
In 2021, the two were convinced to join the 1st McLean Scouts as Scout Leaders. They enjoyed the outdoors, kids, and adventure, so it seemed like an obvious fit. The two have spent the last 3 years sharing their outdoor skills and hope to be able to share what they’ve learned with others in the years to come.
